Million pound investment for innovation healthcare spin-out
6th May 2009
A University of Nottingham spin-out company has secured investment of more than £1 million.
Monica Healthcare Ltd will use the cash injection to try and introduce their groundbreaking technology, which can successfully monitor the well being of a mother and her unborn baby, to the USA and other international markets.
The firm’s non-invasive wireless technology can monitor the foetus and mother for extended periods of time whilst enabling the mother to move around as normal, existing techniques such as ultrasound have proved to be less effective monitoring over long periods of time.
The investors in this round of funding (£1.175M) are PUK Ventures (£750K), Catapult Venture Managers (£300K) and University of Nottingham (£100K) with private investors contributing a further £25K.
