The ProspectIP Distinguished Lecture, supported by the 2008 East Midlands iFestival, was delivered by the highly experienced champion of innovation, Dr John Beacham CBE, DSc, FRSC.

Dr John Beacham’s chief expertise is in new product innovation, science and technology strategy and business-higher education partnerships. He spent thirty years working within research & development at ICI UK and was subesecquently an advisor on strategy and innovation at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Currently Dr Beacham is Chairman of COGENT (the Sector Skills Council for the Chemical/Oil and Gas/Nuclear Industry) and University of Liverpool Enterprises Ltd (ULivE) as well as a Director of the newly formed Bioscience for Business Knowledge Transfer Network. He has recently written '60 Minute Guide to Innovation - Turning Ideas Into Profit'
Dr Beacham was awarded a CBE in the 2000 New Year’s Honours List “for services to the Chemical Industry”.
